As a fast breakfast, a fabulous mid-morning tonic or an after work/school snack a smoothie is going to give you a big boost whenever you have them. They are healthy – as long as they are not an accumulation of sugar disguised as a healthy drink -, they are delicious, and they are easy to make. Some of these smoothies are now part of the list of weight loss smoothies.
We decided to compile a list of a few of these smoothies to share on this blog. Keep checking our weekly updates for more on smoothie recipes. Here are some of our suggestions:
- Green smoothie – this is a great smoothie to manage your weight, especially if it contains good carbs, protein and healthy fats. To make a great green smoothie, a lot of it depends on your taste preferences, but remember to stay away from adding foods full of sugar, such as honey or maple syrup. Avocado is rich on beneficial fats, a serving of chia seeds for plant-based protein and then add what you like – celery, kale… Actually, kale is what some would call a “superfood”, which means it’s packed with large amounts of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients.
- Raspberry Chia Smoothie – the iron-rich spinach in this smoothie, paired with the vitamin C-rich raspberries, will ensure optimal iron absorption, according to experts.
- Blueberry Smoothie – blueberries are packed with health benefits. This simple smoothie only requires fat-free Greek yogurt, blueberries, chia seeds and ice. According to doctors, the protein in the Greek yogurt helps curb your appetite and keeps you from overeating, the berries provide antioxidants, the chia seeds contribute omega-3 fatty acids and fiber to help you feel full.
